Really Keen on the new Cooper

Hi

I've not posted much, but I have spent months lurking and reading up on the techy stuff etc etc.

I really like the look of the new Cooper now I have seen the videos on here, I wasn't top keen at first but it has grown on me and I cam't wait to see one for real and test drive.

But, I have concerns..

This will be a major purchase for me ( I should imagine for most ppls on here) and I'm worried about the gearbox & Clutch as I have read that some ppls have complained about the noise from the Getreg box and the old midlands one was awful and loads of ppls are on 3 or 4th boxes.

Please could someone put my mind at rest.

I hope I've posted this in the right section

If I had to choose out of the Midlands or the Getrag on the current Coopers, the getrag would win everytime.

Can't say I've experienced any noise that is that bad from it in my GF's Cooper and she doesn't complain about it either and it has near 50k on the clock

I've been with a mate when his Midlands box fell apart, now theres a noise you never want to hear in your lifetime

As for the R56, its hard to say how that sounds just yet, but I wouldn't let it concern me ordering one

Its only a forum you know!

Have to agree with the above, we've had trouble with the old midland gears setuip, but the getrags have been very good. They are noisIER, but not noisy.
