Offline | Hissing noise.... sometimes?! Sometimes after turning off my R56 Cooper S the engine makes a hissing/buzzing sound for a good while after switching off but other times it does'nt. Is this something to do with the turbo cooling down or something it should'nt be doing!!!!! As I'm sure you will all notice from this post I am not too engine-savvy so any replies appreciated!! ![]() |

Offline | Its just a fan cooling the turbo. It does it even if you havent driven very far. Not like the old days with Renault 5 Turbo etc where you had to sit and wait for the engine to cool before you turned the engine off!! We dont know how lucky we are! |

| Deals Gap Junkie | It might be the turbo itself still spinning. I know on my turbo'd R53 the Garrett GT2871R spins for a good 20 seconds after I shut the engine off [you can hear it when you put your ear near it]....and that's after the car has been idling for a moment. ![]() |
