Yes K&N do one, Ive seen the Apollo for both Cooper and S (R56), they look good and give impressive figures, although I dont quite believe them...

The apollo is a universal air filter... it has not been specifically made for the R56's.

I will be waiting untill K&N bring out an induction kit which is just for the r56. The Typhoon

The Apollo filter is a universal filter in itself, but the fittings and cold air feed are all different from model to model.
Just as if you look at a typhoon kit, the cone filters are all exactly the same (universal), but is it just the fitting kit that is model specific

I know this is for the R56 S and not the Cooper, but this looks like its made for the job and not a universal filter...

I wonder...would it be so hard to make an induction kit that uses the bonnet airscoop? The problem is when you open the bonnet maybe a fixed (but a bit flexible, plastic so) conduct and a rubber around the scoop that seals when the bonnet is closed...

Does anyone have a photo of the engine bay without the stock airbox? Maybe one could be done in glassfyber... with enough place for a big direct air filter and the "flat pipe" that goes to the scoop. Painted in matte black could even not look too much aftermarket or handmade.

I've posted k & N dyno charts somewhere on this site...the throttle was snappier, the sound amazing. i suggested they use the scoop but k & N's r & D neasured airflow/ temp etc and said it wasnt needed

Iceman Intake for Mini

I have contacted the folks who make the Iceman cold air intake about whether they will make one for the R56 Mini S. I had an Iceman on my 1998 Neon R/T and it worked great - they really engineer their products well, they are not just a K&N on the end of a pipe like some of the other intakes. Their systems are engineered to taper from filter to mainfold in order to provide the ideal air velocity as well as volume, and they are made to last. I'll let you know if they agree - it might help if some of you expressed interest to them as well via the "contact us" part of their website. I would have attached a link to their website in case you are interested in seeing some of their other intakes, but the system won't let me since I don't have 5 posts yet - the website is icemanmotorsports.com.

Would be great if Gruppe M got on the case. I had one on my Civic Type R, and it made ONE hell of a difference. There was loads more torque, and they sound amazing. The idea of the bonnet scoop is not a bad one either, just have to get over the problem of opening the bonnet. Is it worth tyring replacing the dummy scoop with one that lets air in, that would bring down temp's under the bonnet, and may give a tiny bit of extra umph.
