Offline | No idea about Comfort Access, but as DSC works on all four wheels and ASC+T only works on the front ones I guess it is more than just a computer, there must be additional sensors. What would be the point of fitting them and then not using them? |

Offline | ive specced based on som eof the sories ive heard of it seriously saving people bacon. All it takes is it to save you from skidding off the road or potentially into someone else and it will have earnt its value back twice over. plus also the peace of mind is another reason i specced it. |

Offline | Comfort access will probably be extra stuff too - there are extra buttons on the door handles for locking/unlocking the car, and sensors too to detect the proximity of the key. It seems unlikely that MINI would fit these things unless comfort access was specified as part of the build. |

Offline | Does anyone know if the DSC completely disengages with a 2 second press (so you get the warning triangle on the dash)? Or do I need to do something else to COMPLETELY have non-governed handling? THX |

Offline | Why? Because its fun! I've always had non-goverened cars and its great to experience lift-off oversteer for yourself ![]() you worry too much ![]() Last edited by Rocco9999 : May 7th, 2007 at 04:44 PM. |

Offline | Hi there, just got my New Mini Cooper S delivered about a week ago. I ordered the DSC option but the button in my car says ASC+T. I asked my dealer and he said that the guys in the production plant used the wrong button. I tried the hill assist function and it does work, so do I have DSC or does ASC+T also include hill assist? |

| I miss my MINI | I'll post on this even tho it was my 1st gen that it happened in. I was on the Autobahn when a driver that was behind me fell asleep (happened during the world cup). Anyway, he drifted and almost hit me. My gut reaction was to actually jerk the wheel and cut across two lanes of the highway. DSC kicked in and kept the car under us allowing me to keep FULL control of the car. TBH I think DSC is totally worth it. Global Moderator ![]() |

| yellow 07 mcs driver | yeah dsc includes hill assist, i didnt know i had it until i was on a driveway and i notice my car didnt roll back, then 2 seconds later it rollled back. its so convient when parrallel parking on hills. such an ease. you guys with lsd and dsc, does lsd work when dsc is on? cuz dsc is supose to prevent any of the tires from losing control right and lsd only works when one of the tires lose control? |

Offline | yes the LSD does work - very well in fact! LSDs and stability control are deisgned to do different things. Stability control normally prevents excessive Yaw movements associated with oversteer, so wont cut in until you get the car majorly out of shape (i.e. the back is overtaking the front). Believe me you have to try hard. But as you say some LSDs need slipage to occur to work and traction control should prevent this. However, firstly the Mini ATC and ABS cut in quite late (you can get the car to lock up slightly under braking if you try ). Becasue of this there is a small percentage of wheel slip which would give the LSD time to work. Also, I think Mini use a GKN superdiff and IIRC this is a mechanical LSD. I dont know the specifics on how it works but if its like the TORSEN style ones it would transfer the torque before wheel slip occurs (read this) Howstuffworks "Locking and Torsen" . IMHO, BMW have got this set up just right ![]() |
