| Deals Gap Junkie | I extrapolated a few at-the wheel torque figures using the non-fudge factor Blue line which is measured wHP: 149 wLb-Ft @ 2000 RPM 153 wLb-Ft @ 2400 RPM 156 wLb-Ft @ 4500 RPM [the torque peak] 135 wLb-Ft @ 5600 RPM [the power peak] This is about on par for the new R56 MCS from what I've seen so far. The whole "205bHP" hoopla is some wildly inaccurate drivetrain loss fudge factor, and should be disregarded, no matter how much you like the sound of "205bHP" from the factory. This chassis dyno's powertrain loss correction factor is damn near 35%, how absurd! The R53 MINI had about a 12% loss, not 35%! 12% added to the peak wheel HP figure of 144 and you have 164HP at the crank. ![]() |

Offline | I'm not sure about the 12% thing Ryephile, it sounds a bit too low to be, but i'm absolutely sure that Aston's car hasn't 205 bhp. A good FWD trasmission usually has a loss of 20%, 5% less or more... Anyway as we always say, a dyno is useless without confrontation with a different car/setup in the same conditions. |

| Deals Gap Junkie | Believe what you want. Many tuners in the US have collaborated to interpret the drivetrain loss of the R53; based on a variety of test samples [about a hundred or so], we have all concluded that 12% is a rational, logical number. If you want to pump up your estimated crank HP figures by using a larger loss number than what it really is, feel free. ![]() |
