K&N Air Filter Element For Second Gen Cooper S

I am interested in getting the standard OEM air filter element replaced with a K&N type on my new second gen Cooper S.

Does anyone know the part number for it?

Did a quick search on K&N website and it appears they only do a 57i induction kit for the Cooper at the moment.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Yeah, I asked my local authorised dealer and they said that they were not yet updated by K&N.

They asked me to take out my OEM filter, measure it and they will find a suitable one!

This is what I was about to buy for my R56 MCS from K&N, but decided to go with this route. These are photos from this past weekend.

I am 100% happy with this super quick mod, and it sounds WAY better now!!!

Enjoy,

That drop in filter is not for the R56. They dont make one yet, infact they dont make anything for the R56...all the products listed under 07 are for the R53 Dorkboy what did kit did you buy in the end?
I emailed Lohen and they said K&N havent said anything so far but Pipercross have a drop in filter due in the next month or so.

ah my mistake, its for the R56 convertible only not the Cooper or the S. Sorry.

I just picked up a "tuned" 3" clamp style cone filter. It took me 15 minutes to yank out the factory box and put this one in. The custom aluminum box was made by me. I took the original air filter "IN" and turned the 90* tube upwards into my CAI box.

Alta also have a drop-in filter being in the works, I heard 2 week release.

Yeah, all K&N have at the moment are for the '07 convertible, which is based on the old engine.

I sent K&N the original MCS air filter element part number to see whether they have any match, but so far nothing!

Dorkboy, nice job on the intake mod, but why keep the cone filter in the top and back of the engine compartment, where it gets very hot. I would think that re-routing the intake hose downward from the turbo (on an R56) into the open area near the front right (facing the car) of the engine compartment would allow the filter to draw in much cooler air.

As far as im aware k&n have not made an official air induction replacement filter for the r56. Although their Apollo Universal Filter does fit i wouldnt recommend fitting a filter that isnt specifically made for a car.
Give It two or three months, K&N + Pipercross will bring out their higher quality filter like the Typhoon and Viper.

It seems they have said that this part is made specially for the r56 MCS. I will still be waiting untill a better one is brought out as it is STILL the Apollo Which is a universal filter.
