hi all,
i read in an automobile french magazine (auto plus) that the HP indicated on the mini brochure wasnt true!
they benchmarked the cooper, cooper d, Peugeot 207 HDi and 207 1.6i (the last two car has the same engine as the cooper and cooper d)
they found:
- MINI Cooper: 130HP (+10HP!) nice

- MINI Cooper D: 121HP (+11HP!) nice too!

- Peugeot 207 HDI :105HP (-5HP!!)

- Peugeot 207 1.6 : 124HP (+4HP)

i read too that even if BMW/MINI and Peugeot worked together on the engine project, the MINI engine was built in England and the Peugeot one (207 i mean) in France in Douvrin. So, the engine configuration of these two cars must be different, which is normal because they dont use the same engine part and component! but, so much difference in the HP is amazing!

anyway, if it's really true, 130HP for the Cooper and 121HP for the CooperD is really nice!!!!!
what do you think????

You can get a fairly large difference from one engine to the next, even if they come down the same production line. Tolerances in mass production are such that one may be a "good" one, and be a few HP up, and the next may be a "bad" (or rather, within tolerances) one, and be 5hp down.

oh! i didnt know that! thats why they have 130hp on their cooper, this car was a really really good one!
so my cooper might be a 120 or 115 or 125hp, u really learn me something today! thanks!

Isnt the engine build in Germany and then shipped to England?

No, it's built at Hams Hall in England.
