| The Second Coming........ | Just noticed, they recomend removing the scoop, if you have the blocked off scoop, does this mean if you run this CAI, you have to get your scoop out. Want to know what this will do to the intake of dust and dirt particles, surely this would put the cleaning of the filter up, and cause more dirt to be flying around the engine bay. |

Offline | well yeah but at the same time it's getting more ambient air and such.... and the filters' easily cleanable so i can't imagine it'd be something horrific, and they DID do runs with teh scoop on, you just loose a lil more power up top by doin that.... so i'm sure u can just deal with the cleaning process, or if that seriously would bother you a lot why not get an air diverter custom made so the air only goes to the filter.... there was some strain in here that had that kinda thing iin carbon fiber.... it looked like absolute crap but that idea probably still would hold true for the alta CAI 07' MCS |

![]() Boosted | Would it be a problem not having a Mass Air Flow sensor? As the job of a MAF sensor measures the flow of air into the engine and then adjusting ignition accordingly. Surely designing a CAI for a car without a MAF then fitting it to a car with a MAF then you would start seeing problems? The pictures of the installation on NAM show that the MAF is a bit further down the intake duct towards the engine. http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...d.php?t=108220 So I guess that it makes no difference to the removal of the original air box and fitting of the ALTA CAI between the UK and US cars. But I'm no mechanic so I could be totally wrong! .: R56 Cooper S : Dyno'd 192bhp :. ![]() .: H&R Springs : JCW Discs : Forge BOV : Alta CAI :. |
