K&N Panel Filter For R56 Cooper

I am trying to work out which panel filter I need for my 2007 R56 Cooper (non S)
non of the filters listed in the link to K&N's website below seem to match unless its the same filter for the standard Cooper and the S? Mini mania have one listed but is titled like so "K & N REPLACEMENT PANEL FILTER COOPER/S 2007+" Does that mean it will do both cars?
Anybody know which one i need?

Well looks like I have answered my own question, I had a look in the air box and it seems there isn't a panel filter from K&N out yet for my car.
It is a 57 plate Cooper (with the new stop start system) The filter is about 19.5" long and 3.5" wide it is round at one end and square at the other, guess I should of taken a photo of it now.
If anyone knows of a panel filter for this model shout up.

RealOEM shows the R56 Cooper and S filters as being different so I don't think the S filter would fit your Cooper.

Apparently Mini has made several airbox versions for various countries and so far K&N only released one type of panel filter, sorry, not the one for your car!

Give them another few months and they should have it sorted out.

I just replaced my standard air filter with the K&N one (on a R56 MCS). I must say there is not much noise difference as with my previous Peugot 205 or VW Golf and Polo, guess the turbo's noise has everything in the engine bay muffled up. there is however a slight gain in throttle response and this will be even more noticable if you turn on the optional "Sport" button!

Hmm I dont know why minimania would advertise a filter if it didnt fit... it looks the same bar the loop at the end... the k&n model looks quite similar to the standard filter unlike alta's offerings which look more sophisticated. pics of the r56 cooper filter attatched. any help om solving this mystery would be much appreciated! looking at the filter i would say theres lots of room for improvement!

I measured mine when I took it out and there not the same size even without the loop at the end.
The one in our car is 16.25in long (not including loop) and 3.5in wide
The one on Minimania are selling is 14.24in long and 5.75in wide according to K&N's website.

Maybe minimania have worded the title wrongly, it says:
K & N REPLACEMENT PANEL FILTER COOPER/S 2007+

I think it should say:
K & N REPLACEMENT PANEL FILTER COOPER S 2007+

Little bit confusing imo.

Very interested in this too.
Anyone know if it's available yet for the R56 Cooper?

Wink BMC Panel Filter

just been pointed in this direction

AIR FILTERS BMC | AIR FILTER | CAR | MOTORCYCLE | bike - racing - venturi admission system - carbon dynamic airbox

select Car = MINI, click on the little grey arrow, choose MINI II series and the 485/20 looks spot on for my 'stealth' needs

485/20
Code : 485/20

B (mm) A (mm)
496 83

BMC REPLACEMENT FILTER - FLAT FILTER

BMC has developed a particular production system based on soft rubber moulding which produces the familiar BMC red filters. They are made in one single piece with no welded joints in the corners, thus avoiding breaking risks.

Available for
MINI: MINI II SERIES

Thanks for this J1JPE! looks identical to the standard filter though. Would be interested if anyone has one of these fitted. Any idea on what the height of the filter is?

I considered the K&N Apollo CAI set-up but didnt fancy having any TLC / warranty issues or having to remove it & replace the standard airbox when the car goes into the Stealers ... much prefer the stealth route given the gains aren't that huge

Yes ;} fingers crossed that they will be able to 'communicate with' the R56; apparently theyve done a couple of "the new Turbo cars" already

I agree, me too. However the ITG is just a panel filter (in another recent post on the forum) that uses foam rather than paper, I must say I prefer it over the BMC...I can see more improvement in air flow. Who knows though, as you say improvements are minimal
