![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | Hello, Do you mean the manifold when you say down pipe? If so then the reason you have CEL lights coming on is due to the manifold being so free flowing and the sensor picks this up, this is not a problem unless the car seems to have a problem i.e not driving as it should, if the car is driving normal then its a common thing to happen when the manifold has been changed. I drive with the CEL light on permantly, but there is a cure 02 Simulator - CEL / MIL Fix - O2 Sensor Simulator Use this, it is a spacer that is plugged into the o2 sensor on the manifold and then the o2 sensor plugged into this, its a spacer so the sensor does not sit inside the pipe and then the gasses dont touch the sensor and set the light off. Ive never seen a car in the UK with an Alta exhaust but it does look like a quality exhaust i dont think you will go wrong there! Some one in the UK has just had an Emissions test and it passed with this light on! Best regards Scott. |

Offline | I have both the milltek exhaust and the milltek manifold with sports cat. At the time of fitting my mate just unbolted it and put the new set-up on. No lights showed up no faults registered etc etc. If this happens with a manifold with a cat fitted then theres something not right, either with the car or the sensor. Any vehcile still running a cat should not get o2 sensor issues unless there is a problem or a fault on sensor. If you remove the cat then yes the o2 sensors will register and issue despite the car being fine in real life. If you have a catted manifold and this light is on try a new sensor and resetting the fault code on ECU. Or if this doesn't work then theres an issue with the cat iself possibly. No-one I know with a milly manifold or JCW or MINI mania or GTT who has left the cat in has had lights on afterwards, unless they had a dicky sensor. They may have got it for a bit but its reset itself, or if reset manually its never returned. It should not just stay on even after resetting....unless the sesor is bust or there really is a fault on car/cat. The alta exhaust has had fitting issues ... because of having only 1 back box/hanger set-up. The milly is fiddly but seems to regularaly be the best exhaust for power. The Janspeed and GTT manifolds are better than Milltek, mainly as more versitle with decat option (for track only ). but the milly does perform well on road and rollers as a cheaper option |

Offline | Please see my posts under Milltek downpipe withdrawn in the US. I'm asking for help to get Milltek to come up with a fix for this issue. I have their cat back system and when I purchased it in Nov. 07 was told by the US distributor that the downpipe was recalled but would be back on the market shortly after they resolve the CEL light issue. Late this month they informed me, Milltek has no plans to release a revised downpipe in the US and were selling in the UK & Europe with a disclaimer re the CEL issue. Rubbish! Milltek should have the resources to find a fix. It's either in the Cat design or the O2 sensor bungs are not allowing the sensor to be seated properly and therefore the CEL is triggered thinking there is a problem. Please, let's try to get Milltek to address this issue by contacting them. Maybe when they realize the market potential they will step up with a fix. Cheers. |

Offline | Just thinking about getting the Miltek downpipe for my Oct 07 JCW stage 1 CS. I spoke to a guy at Lohen yesterday and this was not mentioned, I'll give him a call next week to check if it's an issue. With the current JCW upgrade they change the back box of the exhaust with not too much difference in sound from the original does anyone have an idea of the increase in noise if I fit the downpipe, basically I don't want to wake the neighbours eberytime I go out !! |
