Offline | Hello, we are currently developing the filter for the R56 JCW, however, this will take a while longer. As soon as ITG have made one, I'll start a new thread under the Gen2 JCW section. Regards Leo |

![]() Addicted to MINI... | Leo, could you please tell us a bit more about the filters? Advantages over the standard parts and gains if any? It looks like a good design and what ive been looking for, the standard paper filter has minimal airflow so the use of foam is a real highlight for me. Thanks! Chili Red R56 Cooper |

Offline | These filters are based on ITG’s patented tri-foam system. In essence three layers of foam are bonded together to create a sandwich, each with their own differing pore sizes. The layer of foam most exposed to the air stream has the largest pores while subsequent layers have smaller pores (These filters are also oiled). Please understand that ITG don’t just get this universal sandwich of foam and create hundreds of different applications. ITG makes over 40 different types of foam with varying thicknesses. These foams are then selected for their suitability in their intended application. For example the ITG filter on the R56 Cooper S has different foam to the one used on the R56 One/Cooper. Now the difference between paper and foam filters. Paper & cotton gaze filters have high initial flow, however, there downfall is they can only filter partials on one level and they promptly become contaminated. It only takes driving through a thick dust cloud to ruin your standard paper filter. The tri-foam filters means that differing sized partials are trapped within the varying layers of foam while still offering continued flow offering multiple layers of filtration. You can also clean the ITG foam filters just as you can the cotton. ITG has seen filter life of in excess of 10 years. As for the gains of these items there is no dyno graph or official figure but expect improved throttle response and better pick-up through the gears. ITG has over twenty years top level motorsport experience supplying many top level F1 teams. Regards Leo |

Offline | Hello jamesbeaumont, ITG does indeed have an excellent reputation but are not known by the masses. In all the flow tests conducted ITG has proved time and time again it’s the best filter. As for you stated 2 – 5 bhp gains this seems about right. The OEM filter is a thick dense medium of paper / cotton which the air struggles to get past. The ITG provides a path of least resistance towards the incoming air while still filtering particles that my harm your engine. Regards Leo |
