Which replacement panel filter?

Hey,

I'm looking to get a replacement panel filter for my 2007 R56 Cooper S Auto.

Down the track I might think about getting a Cold Air Intake System, but until then a replacement panel filter will have to do.

I've been looking at the following two:
What are the pro's and con's of each (if any) ?

Which one do you suggest I get ?

Any other brands ?

Thanks.

Hi All,

Sorry to ressurect this older thread but saves starting a new one and adding another thread to the forums...

When you say you'd reccommend it can I ask why? I've heard some people say they had no benefits at all - does it increase throttle response? Any noticeable increase in BHP/Torque? Nice noises etc.?

Comments would be appreciated as I'm looking to get one as a cheap upgrade :-)

I put a k&n on my sisters cooper didnt really notice a huge differance just a tiny bit more throaty. Personally i would say get the a cone filter will notice the differance and if your worried about warrenty they dont really mind, well mine dont. Ive got my last two second hand alot cheaper and give them a clean up and there as good as new. K&N are always good nicer noise on a Mini ONE, Pipercross Sounds good on a Cooper. Recommend both put a good grunt in your car.

Be careful of K and N ones as ive heard the oil content in them is higher, my freind had one in his Audi S3 and caused one of his sensors to go in the car..

Ive ordered a BMC Panel Filter, as the oil content in the filter is lower ..although have to wait 3 weeks as there new out , will let you know whats its like when i get it

I got the pipercross one
Sounds a bit more throaty, no noticeable power increase although perhaps a LITTLE more throttle response, for £30 i would say it is worth it.... wouldnt pay any more though

Just bought a Mini Cooper S !!

DIY

Foam is better than paper; see itg or vecchio websites for explanation of how dirt gets trapped & airfllow etc

Therefore, go for itg or piperX rather than k&n
