JCW Stage 1 Kit : Any Existing Users?

Hi all!

I am looking into getting the JCW Stage 1 kit which is being offered by my local Mini dealer at a very competetive price. Just wondering if anyone has got this fitted, apparently it consists of:
  • JCW Air Filter
  • Sports Exhaust
  • Exhaust Manifold
  • New turbo charger
  • Modified ECU
  • And all the JCW badges
Now this makes me think... For all the bits that are changed the bhp increase seems fairly small - especially as they change the turbo and an ECU remap?

If you were to change all these parts on the R53 Cooper S engine you would be looking at a fairly hefty BHP increase, definately well over 200 - yet on the new engine it makes less difference?

If anyone has got any more info on the JCW Stg1 pack I would be really interested to hear more.

Thanks!

Just bought a Mini Cooper S !!

Hi Nick,
Think you may have been misinformed about the contents of the kit. Chris at Woodmans has an offer up on it at the moment, see link below. But the contents are not as you list above, no new turbo for example.

Quote:
The kit includes the following
JCW AIR FILTER SYSTEM
JCW STAINLESS STEEL SPORTS EXHAUST
JCW EXHAUST MANIFOLD
JCW FILTER AIR GUIDE
MODIFIED ENGINE ELECTRONICS SYSTEM
JCW ACTIVATION CODE FOR ENGINE CONTROL UNIT (CHASSIS SPECIFIC)
JCW EMBLEMS FOR FRONT GRILLE AND TAILGATE
JCW ENGINE BADGE WITH SERIAL KIT NUMBER
JCW CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY

It drives really well though

Theres been plenty of posts on the kit already, do a search and look in the 2nd Gen JCW section. In short its worth more than the sum of its parts and its the only way to go if you want to retain your warranty. For just over a grand that was worth it for me. Take a long test drive in one! Oh, and don't forget about declaring it to your insurance company...
