Air Intake Size

Just a quick question....i am lookin into getting an induction kit for my R56 MC and want it closer to the front of the car to get the coldest air possible for this i will need a silicone hose. Does anyone know what size diamiter i need to get? i.e. what size the connection from the air box to the engine is?

That was a very rough guess! Its 70mm Internal diameter at the airbox and goes down to 46mm ID at the turbo. If you look on Lohen's website at the Alta induction kit they have a very good picture on the intake pipe which should help you.

I used a 50mm tube through the resonator box (clear film over the holes also works) plus itg panel filter, total cost £50 & got quieter at cold start, 10% better mpg, improved throttle response, 2-3bhp at top of rev range according to my butt dyno. The standard design comes with a cold air intake from the front offside headlight area anyway, just make sure the pipe is connected properly.

If you want (& plan to insure) an induction kit the K&N Apollo claims 8bhp (at 5,500+ rpm tho'), comes with all the hose, brackets & looks awesome in black BUT cost £175ish

imo, You'd be better of getting the itg and removing or modifying the resonator box then using the money saved towards a miltek zorst or de-cat pipe ... until a reliable chip becomes available ;}

am planning to go see some guys in cheshire who custom make zorsts soon to see what they reckon to a de-cat ... will let you know the outcome
