I've just spotted a yellow Cooper in the compound behind the factory in what looks like a darker yellow than LY. There's also a shell on the scrap pile sprayed a shade which is much darker/brighter than LY.

Any ideas?!

You sure it isn't the gold colour that was/is available (not sure if its still available) - that could look like a darker yellow in some lights I imagine.

Well not long after I posted this thread the car disappeared and the scrap shell has gone too now.

Agreed, they've tried a few "retro colours" too, if they'll ever see the light of day who knows. Laser Blue and Mellow Yellow seemed pretty certain to me, but who knows.

I can't se any interesting colours out there at the moment, although I think I might be able to see a tiny bit of a bright yellow scrap shell at the back of the compound.

Liquid Yellow is the perfect colour for the MINI. I hope they DON'T make it the same as that Citroen Saxo Yellow/Orange - that is disgusting!
