The rear quarter panel/c-pillar is plastic, it's all shown and examined in the MINI2 news section www.mini2.com/news.html

I've just received (I ordered from miniusa.com) a 1:43 scale model of the current MINI Cooper. It is a lovely model, even though there are some errors in the size of some parts (sunroof and taillights).

I'm including a photo of the rear view. Notice how the error in the proportions of the taillights make them look like the ones on the new MINI.

Its amazing how much better it looks with a few 'adjustments' to the suspension, i've put a few piccies up to demonstrate, please ignore the not very good quality of the photos only i'm having trouble with the software so these are screen shots.Oh.. and before anyone says it i know the 'slammed to the max' picture is an impossibility but you have to admit it does look good.

Any news on electronics- is the stero system iPod ready, and is bluetooth built in (as opposed to the less than elegant and expensive solutions on current generation Minis)?

I think the Cooper exterior (I'm a Cooper guy) is an improvement overall...the front end looks much cleaner. The larger fog/parking light array simplifies the front end and the upper grill looks very Mini-esque as a one-piece unit....the split grill had a lot of faux to it (lower section) that never made perfect sense to me. In light of this, the Cooper lower grill resembles the MCS a bit more and I like it. The rear of the car is also cleaner, in similar fashion to the MCS and the rear fog is awesome. A lot of the chrome bits on the previous Cooper really served no practical purpose, and while I liked them fine, I'm just as happy to see them go. The C-pillar is now plastic...but then so is the A-pillar. It makes some sense to have them match, and it's not as if that section was a real window anyway.

I admit, I'm looking for reasons to like R56...and going in from that perspective I find that there is a lot to like.....no, love!!! I do value my R50, yes....but so far I'm content with what R56 has to offer. Now to see one for real....

I'm with you... the 2nd and 4th pics look about perfect to me.

A set of lower Eibachs or H&R springs will be one of my first mods as soon as they are availible for the R56. Definately brings the new car's stance up to the 1st gen's agressive standards. Love it!
