Clear front indicator mock-up...

Been looking at these images for quite some time and one thing I just cant get used to is the "orange eyeballs" of the headlight indicator units.

On the prototypes we drove, the orange came from the bulb only (very good), but these appear to be orange capped casings, not so good!

So, here's a quick mock-up....

do you think maybe the xenon units will get clear indicators? presumably they'll be a sealed unit & unchangeable

I would be very surprised if this isn't a £50 option when ordering the car.

While you've got the PhotoShop out, is there anything that can be done with the side vents?

Tigger.

The Xenons are shown on the Cooper S in these shots, with orange indicators.

If it's not an option they're missing a trick big time!

I think the side vents look too big in the photos, and the way they get larger at the front doesn't seem to tally with any other line of the car. Ripe for some sort of mood or back-lighting though.

Couldn't agree more on the orange bit.
Looks like a bit of something stuck in the eye.

Question on the side marker. Wouldn't be too bad if it looked like that and actually vented heat. If it's just a dent for looks then that's different.
So, does it do anything?

A replacement unit AND back lighting, there you go Mike... How long until it's ready?

Makes us wonder... until I can get more information on that!

All very confusing isn't it.

But if it was all clear and explained to us properly, where would the fun be in that?!?

I think the answer is that you get clear indicators with xenons and amber ones with halogen; just another reason to get you to part with the £400 odd to upgrade to the headlamps we wish they fitted as standard

No, even that answer doesn't fit the facts, oh well, back to square one!

Tigger.

Maybe its just UK spec cars that will have the clear indicators

Although the standard spec doesn't confirm this

Even better if they go for the silvered indicator bulbs, so there's no orange showing at all when they're not lit up.....

As do all the photos in our galleries and news section (official BMW/MINI image). Yet the prototypes were clear.

In the Options there is a Clear Indicators option, although it could just be the side repeaters.
