2nd Gen Roof Rack

The pictures on the MINI USA site of the roof rack make it look like it doesn't need the bolts drilled into the roof...

1 - can anyone confirm?

2 - Will this rack fit the 1st gen MINI?

Hi there

Confirmed by my dealer that fitting the new roof rack base support system does NOT need to drill any holes into the roof...it holds a max load of 75kg....she has no idea whether it fits the current model...also it is not available until Jan 07(so I guess my snowboard will rest in its usual place inside the car )....

resurecting an old thread here... does anyone know if the new base support system can be installed on and older mini (03 mini one) without drilling? When I checked on the mini website it says the BSS requires 1.5 hours of fitting time...

Hi
The R56 roof rack will not fit the 1st gen car,the new rack fits by using the roof rack brackets that are fitted under the gutter trim, the first gen roofrack was held by brackets mouted to the roof panel,

Bah, Are there any other roof racks available that don't require drilling that I can fit to my mini?

Thanks Simeds.

Which one is best? Also can they both be used with a sunroof? Finally anyone got any links to the exact product I need. It's a bit of a minefield this :P

Just got the word that MINI has pulled the roof rack they'd had going for The Clubman and right now there is no word, according to my information from my dealership, as to when one will become available. Hoping for something more user friendly - and rather soon!

Updated to say that my MA says there may have been "isolated instances of issues in conjunction with the rack installation" due to "modifications on the bodywork". Have been assured that it is being addressed. It would have to be, wouldn't ya think?
