Angry BMW have killed my Christmas!!!!

Another phone call and another disappointment!

Just got a phone call from dealer and apparently not so good MINI build Lightning Blue every other week and to add injury have a shortage of paint.

This means my build has slipped from WEEK 49 -> WEEK 50 and now WEEK 51. So the chance of me getting my car before Christmas are 0 (i think). hence the headline: BMW killed my Christmas

Think about the positive side, a January 2007 registered car will be worth somewhere in the region of £250-£300 more come resale time than the same car registered in December 2006.

O.K, not much of a positive side, but better than nothing!

Scrogg, that does cheer me a little.

I may even say to them don't register it until Jan given the delay even if its here before Christmas since i wont really get a good opportunity to enjoy it until after Christmas anyway.

I was just annoyed that a build date can slip, whats the point of a build date if it keeps slipping. They should just tell you to wait... wait... then tell you its built and this is the collection date.

Build dates are only estimated until the car actually goes into production, so you shouldn't have been quoted a date at all for this very reason.

I know what you mean though, I always tell my customers when they order their cars that I will ring them when it is built, rather than giving them a date before I know anything for sure, and funnily enough I don't get any disappointed ones!

It's just another example of dealers telling customers what they think they want to hear, rather than being brave enough to tell them the facts.

I don't blame you. Too many dealerships think they can dictate to customers when they should have their cars, putting manufacturer targets ahead of customer satisfaction.

Unless you have a part-exchange value that has only been agreed and guaranteed for December, there is no reason why your car needs to be registered this month. If your car isn't delivered before January and as a result they try telling you that your part exchange value will be less then tell them to take your current car in before the end of the year and lend you something until your new one arrives. You should not be out-of-pocket for this.

I've got one the same. Cooper ordered in October already built and due on the 15th.

But, I've also got a Cooper S ordered in July that has been put back to Week 51!

Its not the best outcome but think positive mate...Scrogg gave you a good financial reason and I am adding that you are having a good after-Xmas present to look forward too ...Think that I should be getting the car on Saturday16th and due to business & holidays I will be away until mid January...

Well at least it's built so that's good news. Have a busy few weeks so may delay collection by a day or so..

On the positive side - do you really want your brand new car delivered when the weather in the UK is at its worst and your new pride and joy will get gritted and salted. I got my current MCS in March 05 just as the weather improved for the spring/summer. A good move I thought!!

Ben I got my old One brand new on 5th January and the dirt was never noticed as I cleaned it every week anyway. Its better cleaning a black car in January than the hot months got me used to cleaning it by then!

Sorry to hear that most of the LBs are delayed! Good luck with the extended wait everyone!

Its worth the wait

My cooper was ordered for delivery on launch date and all was well until 24 hours before when it was cancelled due to no delivery. It arrived on Thursday 7th december and all i can say it was worth the wait so look on the bright side it will get to you eventually.
