Viper stripe question - hole?

Ok - quick question, picked up my MCS on Friday (PW) with Black Vipers - noticed there is a hole on the back of one of the roof stripes - looks a bit like a C with a triangle at the bottom. I initially thought it was a tear but it is actually carefully cut out - the dealer tells me this is normal and the signature/initial of who fitted them? Is this dealer guff or true?

I don't have a picture to hand, but it is quite small - about the size of a penny. Unfortunately, having a PW car, it looks a bit like bird poo with the paint showing through!

I certainly wouldn't be happy about that.

The little cut out in the basic shape of a C with a little piece in the bottom indicates that it is a GENUINE MINI stripe.
In this case the dealer appears to be correct.

Is the cut out located near the roof aerial?

That is exactly it - so it is meant to be there? That is a relief - I had a sinking feeling the dealer was telling porkies

I'm glad that it's supposed to be there, now you can stop worrying about it and enjoy the car!

Phew! Thanks guys!

Still got to send it back though as the drivers side door panel isn't fastened - doh! But one thing to fix is better than two!

I asked about this a couple of years ago when i had mine done because i had heard about it. Oddly i don't have one though. I was a little annoyed that i had paid £240 to have the official stripes but i ended up with what i assume is just the stuff the sub contracted graphics guy uses. The stuff i would have been charged about £75 had i gone after market. At the time,i mentioned to the dealer about the authentification mark and explained what it was, he said "oh..that's what it was, we sent a load back the other week because we thought they were faulty". Do the original MINI stripes come pre cut because mine certainly weren't and were cut with would must have been a bread knife or a spoon they were that rough. On ebay around the same time someone was flogging some genuine MINI viper stripes and they were precut and on a sort of backing. Like i say i was charged for the official ones but don't think i have them. ( for what it's worth i realise that they would be the same thing but , apart from one possibly being pre cut, but it's the thought of being charged for an official item but not being given it that annoyed me at the time.) I hope yours are fitted well cos mine were put on all crooked . When i spoke to the salesman about it he said that "Joe Bloggs wouldn't notice when i drove down the road". Seeing as Joe Bloggs wasn't paying £240 for them i didn't really see his point.

Mine seem pretty straight, although I am getting them to change the bonnet ones as they have scrathed the leading edges applying them - it really shows if you look at them from the side. Poor dealer got a right earful this morning.

They don't seem to be precut either, well not on the front anyway, as they are a not a perfectly smooth finish on close inspection...
