Spoke to the R56 exterior designer at MINI United in Zandvoort. I moaned that Astro black with its metallic finish and blue tint is not black enough for those that want a stealthy MINI so I had to go with Chili Red. He said that Solid Black is coming back! YAY I know what colour my next MINI will be

That'll please a lot of people. I was just having this conversation with Abi this weekend, about how metallic black just isn't, well, "Black" enough.

He didn't say when but they did say they were working on it!

I test drove a MCS at Zandvoort and I WANT ONE (see MCS forum) I see a lovely all solid black MCS in my future!

I hate that, "we're working on it". What exactly are they supposed to be working on I wonder? It's a bloody paint colour, and it's BLACK. Mix it and spray it on the bloody cars lads, and hurry up about it. Sorry Marcus not ranting at you I just get exasperated waiting for companies to do simple elementary things and making out like they're redesigning the engine block when in fact all they're doing iss changing the colour of the paint in the sprayers.

It was the same with Nightfire Red. Announced in December 2006 but took until April 2007 to actually make it on to a car!

Whoo hoo! I just loved my old solid black One! It was the only colour that detailed amazingly! But not good if, like I did, you obsess about your paintwork!
