Xenon Headlights - any good?

Xenon headlights - any good?

I've just ordered a black Clubman Cooper D with silver roof, which should be with me before Xmas they say. I ticked the Xenon option because there's a lot of animals wandering round the roads of the New Forest, but in the latest Top Gear magazine long-term test report on the Mini, they comment that the Xenon lights are pretty poor.
Does anyone else have an opinion on this - i'g going to be pretty gutted if I have wasted my money, as it's the first new car I have ever bought with my own pennies!
Should have asked you guys the question before ordering it I guess!

I have Xenons on my 06 and love them. They are much brighter than the normal lights, but they do have a sharper cutoff. I also drive a lot in the country and they do provide adequate light for the road in my opinion.

I read the same article in Top Gear and was surprised by his comments. Perharps his are slightly misaligned!

I have the Xenon's on my Cooper D and they are much better that the standard headlights that were fitted to the car that the dealers loaned me for the day. As mentioned before they have a sharper cut-off point but they light is a brilliant white right up to that point and if you are using the full beam on county roads the light produced is outstanding!

Don't be worried, it wasn't a waste of money!

Never regretted it on mine, yes they are expensive, but unlike some expensive options they will get used especially this time of year.

I didn't regret the Xenons either.

The headlamp wash is cool too!

They're SO much better than the regular lights, and the bi-xenons on the 2nd gen MINIs are the best yet in terms of MINI lights.

Thank you all for your comments - I feel a lot happier about it now! Might have to get some spots fitted as well though as they do look cool. Wonder if you can fit 2 up 2 down brackets for that Paddy Hopkirk look!

They are absolutely fantastic. I honestly don't think I could now go to a car without them.

I've got the MINI spot lamps on the front of my MCS also, it's honestly like having the entire lighting force of the sun on the front of your car, I just get flashed allllll the time. Oh well...
