| Back in a first gen. | Well it doesn't sit at any strange angles or have any gaps, in fact it sits flush and inline like its supoosed to....... will see if I have a closeer up picci & post it. if not will take one tomorrow for you. Just an idea, probably won't apply - but would it make a difference that mine is a Nov. 2006 build not a 2007 R56? |

Offline | Indeed it does looks great. Also to mix it up Darren has the Aero grille with black surrounds on his Clubman. http://www.mini2.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1199391412 Just been looking at real OEM and the Cooper chrome grille and the Aero have the same mounting points. Im going to fit mine tomorrow. ![]() |

Offline | Yes, but you've got the JCW front bumper as well as the grile. The problem seems to be when you want to use the black centre of a JCW grille and the chrome surrounds from a Cooper. Like Jo, I want to put the black grill plus chrome surrounds on a Cooper D. jordangpboy - let us know how you get on. |

| Back in a first gen. | I know I have the JCW bumper, Stiggy, but according to Hickster's pictures the chrome one still shouldn't fit as its a different shape to the black JCW surround, but it does. And what about the guy who bought my black surround and fitted it to a Cooper grille on a standard bumper? |

Offline | I have been following this thread with great interest for a while - thinking about a black grille into my standard Dooper chrome surround. Mini/BMW certainly don't make things easy for us ![]() I have PMed Chris at Woodmans, to ask his opinion on what should fit. When I hear back from him I shall pass the info on. Good luck trying to sort this out , I am currently bamboozled ![]() |

Offline | Well I have the grille, but do you think I can get the 4 plastic expanding rivets out of the existing grille!! Any ideas? Everyone says they are easy to remove...I just cant see how it can be done without wrecking them. |

![]() E's H2B | That might be more important than you think. There were quite a large number of subtle changes between the early R56's and the 2008 model R56 (which my Dooper is) so it's entirely possible MINI made slight changes to the grille and surround. Also, the Cooper petrol and Cooper D grilles are quite different in shape. One thing not shown on my pictures is that although the clips for the black and chrome lower surrounds don't meet at the same point, the holes in both the aero grille and the standard grille are in line - it's just that because of the deeper chrome grille, they don't reach when you try to fit it onto the aero grille. ![]() D-lite-full |

![]() E's H2B | I used a flat bladed screwdriver to pry out the head of the push rivet. You should then be able to pull the whole rivet out. This is a basic industrial push rivet. Obviously the ones on the MINI are slightly larger but they work in the same way. ![]() Chip used a special tool, which is a far more reliable method than the way I did it. http://www.mini2.com/forum/2996508-post15.html D-lite-full |

Offline | Yes, there are two rings of plastic, and you just gently prise out the front inner circle with a pair of flat blade screwdrivers; one each side. I was worried about breaking something, but with some not-so-gentle persuasion, they come out. What I want to know is how to unclip the bottom of the grill. Does the whole thing slide forwards once the top 4 clips are undone? I can't get my hand anyhere near the bottom of the back of the grill otherwise. |

![]() E's H2B | There are 4 moulded spring clips that hold the bottom half of the grille to the bumber (they are acutally part of the grille moulding). You need to use a fairly long screwdriver to close the prongs and thereby release the spring from the bumper. I found that once I'd uncliped the first two on one side, the rest kind of popped out by themselves. D-lite-full |
