Offline | The Cooper D and the Cooper S have the same shape bonnet, but the ONE and Cooper are different. However, you should be able to put a black JCW grille on a Cooper. I'm guessing the lower chrome surround would still be a problem, but there must be a fix for it. Once we get this all sorted out (not long now hopefully!) I will put up a list of components and part numbers for everyone. Last edited by Stiggy : Jan 13th, 2008 at 11:44 AM. Reason: I'm told I'm wrong! |

Offline | I have some more answers for you guys, and a bit more feedback may help (stiggy?) Looked in my car today, and found my old Chrome grille, removed from the Cooper D. I had thought that the grille and the lower chrome surround were 2 pieces. However, the grille and the lower surround have clearly come out in a single piece. What I therefore summise is that the Cooper S grille came attached to the lower chrome suround (hence a Cooper S lower surround) and went into my car in a single piece. This goes along with what stiggy had suggested, as to why the lower grille had to be trimmed. A Cooper S lower surround will not fit without a minor trim. As previously mentioned, this trimming is 99.5% invisible. Hope this helps ![]() |

Offline | Thanks to stiggy for providing the photo .The arrow points to the dotted line showing what needs to be trimmed off, to make it fit a Cooper D. |

Offline | Nice annotation Andrew! As for how to trim it, I still haven't got around to trying it, and I'm open to suggestions! The grill is chrome plated plastic, so it shouldn't be too hard to cut with a hacksaw or jigsaw, but the trick will be getting a smooth finish. |

Offline | I' just dont get it ... maybe beacuse i'm from denmark, and english is only my 2'nd language. If i have a Cooper D Can i order, RealOEM.COM * BMW R56 Cooper FRONT PANEL - part number 7 on the picture, and make it fit on the original crome front parts with no problems what so ever ? |

Offline | No. The diagram shows the JCW front bumper and grille (also known as "M AERODYNAMICS PACKAGE II"). First, for a Cooper D you will need part number 51110404123 as the JCW grille for a ONE/Cooper and Cooper D/S are different. Second, when you try to fit the JCW grille you will find the lower chrome from the Cooper D will not fit - it's far too deep. You will need to fit the lower chrome from a Cooper S which is part number 51112751625. This isn't a perfect fit either, so you have to trim the ends slightly to make it fit the Cooper D bumper. Other alternatives: You can use the grille from a Cooper S: you might find these cheaper on eBay or if your dealer has some left over from fitting the Aero or JCW body kit. Or, You can fit the whole front bumper from an S and avoid the lower chrome surround problems. Or, get the whole JCW kit! ![]() |

Offline | Cheeky! I'm not too far away, so if you want to meet in Specialist Cars' car park with a screwdriver I'm happy to fit your grille! I promise I will get mine fitted soon. However, when I went to borrow some tools from my Dad, everyone said "We really like the chrome grille"! |

Offline | After my dealer did such an excellent job on mine, I am glad I took it nowhere else - or even tried it myself . If you are brave, and used to fiddling with cars, Stiggy shows it clearly can be done ![]() |
