Which bulbs would you recommend...

Finally managed to get my personalised number plate transferred at the DVLA, so tomorrow whilst I'm getting them made up I may as well get the standard headlight\sidelight bulbs changed on my R56 Cooper D.

Which bulbs would you recommend as the standard ones don't seem so great and I'd prefer a whiter light.

These are by far the best standard light bulbs around at 5000K they are white with a hint of blue (And when i say that i actually mean it as alot of places say that and they end up being yellow)

H4 New Philips DiamondVision Bulbs 5000k (pair) on eBay, also Bulbs Lenses, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 12-Mar-08 22:34:24 GMT)

Here are a few videos of them.

I can really vouch for these. I used to have an 8000K HID Kit on my old Mini and could find nothing to match that type of colour untill i found these.

Let me know how they go if you get them.

I like!!

What fitment are the MINI ones and are they easy to fit or is it the type of car that you half dismantle just to change a bulb?

Also, are the sidelights standard W5W types or different?

They look pretty bright in the video

Were they easy to fit... my last car was a nightmare because the battery etc was in the way.

Also, the philips site says the MINI '06> is an H4 fitment

THEY ARE NOT H7. i THINK westycooper is mixed up with the R53 models!

THE R56 FITMENT IS H4 (NOT H7)

The link i added has the exact one you need. And the side lights are W5W. LED's don't wonk as they bring up a warning light but the closest match to the DIAMOND VISION Bulbs are these. 501 W5W Xenon Extreme White (pair) :: 501/W5W Xenon :: Upgrade Sidelight & Festoon Bulbs :: Autobulbs Direct Ltd - Xenon bulbs, car bulbs, wiper blades, headlight, Osram, Ring, Philips

Definitely an H4 fitting on the R56. I changed mine about a week after buying the car, Halfords were doing the 50% brighter bulbs buy one get one free. Must be the easiest car around to change, just remove the cover, nothing in the way, 2 minute job to do both.

The best performing H4 bulbs (for R56 Minis) are the Philips X-Treme Power H4's. They won the AUTO EXPRESS CAR ACCESSORY OF THE YEAR 2007.

I have some and would thoroughly recommend them, as do others on this forum from previous posts..

If you just want blue effect bulbs then you lose some performance..

Philips X-Treme Power are no where near as good as the diamond vision as i have had them aswell. The are nowhere near as White/Blue and theres not much difference in brightness either.

Halfords will not have DIAMOND VISION Bulbs as they are specialist Bulbs. Its for the same reason you don't see PIAA bulbs in high street stores.

No just specialist bulbs. 90% of PIAA Bulbs and the same goes for PHILLIPS are road legal just not sold in shops as places like halfords don't think theres a big enough market to sell bulbs of that type which is complete nonsense.

Got sorted in the end... bought some ULTRA 5000k bulbs and they seem really good. Also bought some e-marked blue sidelight bulbs and they give a really nice white\blue light so they look good on the R56 I think.

Will try and get some pictures up asap.

IPF Bulbs are actually quite good but they seem to look blue from in the car but from the outside look more yellow. But theres no denying they are good.
