Offline | JCW Carbon Fibre Hood Scoop Hi Just got a carbon fibre JCW hood scoop for my JCW tuned MINI Cooper S and was wondering if I can avoid fitting expenses at my dealer and fit the item on the car myself. Anyone got any idea or specific instructions on how to do it? Has anyone already done it? Some pics would be of great help Thanx in advance for your help |

Offline | Just tried to take the original off and found it quite difficult. there are 2 screws and at least 3 clips which I find hard to unclip. Basically, I am afraid that something might break there. Any particular order in which I can do this? Where can I find this Haynes manual? Thanx |

| MINI2 Senior | Here's a link to the manual on the Haynes site; Product: Mini Petrol (July 2001 - 05) Y to 05 Reg The manual states; "Undo the two screws and two nuts, then remove the air intake duct from the underside of the bonnet (see illustration)." ![]() |

Offline | Did mine on R56 a few months ago. Like you I was a bit concerned at first but it couldn't have been simpler. It is secured by one screw which is visible in the centre. Once this has been removed it simply pops out, I think it had about 6-8 plastic poppers around it. Get your fingers under one corner and pull with a bit of force. Once one of the poppers is released it is easier to get the rest off as you can get more fingers underneath. Don't try and pull it off in one go, work on each consecutive popper and work your way round. You will then need to re-use the plastic retaining 'poppers' to secure the carbon scoop. Look at your old scoop to see where the poppers go, the carbon scoop replicates this. If you get stuck give me another shout and I'l try and explain it better (If I can). Mal |
