Electric mirrors fold but won't adjust

I have the electric folding mirrors. They fold OK but I can't adjust them, leading to undignified winding window down / poking them, 80s style. Surely it wouldn't be a separate fuse for the adjust function v the folding function? Will have a look this weekend.

I doubt it's on a different fuse, but worth checking for sure. What a bummer.

Hi had exactly the same problem. Mirrors fold but do not adjust. Heated seats and auto-dimming mirror not working either. In garage at the moment to get fixed.

Mine is exactly the same - except that if I play around with the switch, I can make them move eventually. I think it's one of two things.

1) The switch is faulty
2) The motors in the mirrors are having a job overcoming friction in the cold weather and for brand new mechanisms (probably not enough lubrication used).

On the basis that it might be 2), once I got mine moving, I kept them moving back and two to extremes of adjustment for about 5 minutes.

Much better now, though still a little reluctant to move.

I tried the payling around with the switch, to no avail - booked in for repair first week in Jan. My list of maladies they're going to look at:
  • Bonnet fit - big gap between bonnet and wheelarch - doesn't look as good as other R56s I've seen
  • Mirrors not adjusting
  • Drivers mat refuses to stick down (quite dangerous this!)
  • Didn't get an ashtray despite ordering smokers pack (to cover up coins, not for ash!)

Took MINI in this week for its bugs to be fixed!
  • Mirrors not adjusting - Fixed, they said it was a new fuse. Is there REALLY a different fuse for the adjust rather than the fold function?!!! Bet Mikey's explanation is probably nearer the mark
  • Bonnet panel gap around wheelarch - they say they've fixed it and it looks slightly smaller - will compare with other R56s when I can
  • Plastic trim marked "Airbag" missing off interior rear pillar - ordered
  • Floor mat slipping - new velcro parts ordered
  • No Ash tray supplied despite ordering Smokers pack (for my coins not ash!) - ordered

Hi Marcus,

You must have been unlucky with the mirrors - ours worked fine out of the box.. Very cool though, I could sit and play with them all day!!

United-States New Gen PFM (Power Folding Mirrors)

So everyone is raving about how cool they are - are they truly much changed over the previous gen (which we never received in the US)? It appears that you can now order them on the convertibles for the US market.

There is no difference at all as far as I can tell. There just quite a cool little feature

My leccy and folding mirrors worked perfect when I got the car in January but have stopped adjusting today :-(
One of the posts above said that it will be because fuse 32 will have blown.
Is this correct?
It's going in to the dealer tomorrow for a clutch spring grommet replacement!!! so I'll ask them to check it out while it's there.
Fergal.

Got the car seen to yesterday for the mirrors not adjusting.
Also noticed that my Auto dimming mirror had stopped working.......
Got it back and all fixed.
They said it was a fuse like a previous post above said.
This also fixed the Auto dimming mirror so both must be on the same fuse.
Fergal.

United-States Mirror, mirror, on the stalk...

My '07 MCS is at the dealership right now with mirrors that won't adjust.
Not the fuse... ....they say that they have to put the computer to the bus...

The car is only 4 days old.

I'll post the result later.

Safety fast,
Bill

Well, it's later. The switch and fuse both failed. Works fine now.
The heat at the cowl is blamed on high ambient temberatures (94 F ---- average summer temp here).

Got a pair of hats for the trouble.

Safety fast,
Bill
