Creaking Sunroof

Has anyone else who opted for the sunroof getting loads of creaks and rattles? It was a problem with orginal Mk1 but I thought they would have sorted it now with this 'new design'. Apparently MINI know about it but waiting for a fix atm!

I know the creaking on the MK 1 comes from the sunroof surround. If you take it down and apply grease on the areas that clip over and hold it in place (this becomes more apparent when you remove it) this stops the creaking.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Dunno about the new one, but current 05 Cooper has been back to the dealer 3 times for Sunroof rattles to be sorted and they have never fixed it permanently. So I havn't bothered with the Sunroof on my MCS.

Cheers - might try this. Have so far traced it back to the rear section of the sunroof which only creaks when closed. I did have a look at the trim surround last night but didn't put any grease on it.

New R56 Cooper with the sunroof, 200 miles under her belt and no rattles of cracking at all, but its been raining since i picked it up so havent used it yet. I dont know if it will start once it gets used,if and when the sun dares to come out!

Not Happy! Car went into dealer again yesterday to be looked at by the BMW Technical Expert and despite trying a few fixes it still rattles and creaks! They have no cure for it and wont fit a new one!

If they have tried and failed to fix it, why not quote them the sale of good act and reject the car?

Back with a MINI KenL? Remember reading your posts from a few years ago - then you changed to something else, if I remember.

Good luck with the new car - most interested to read your opinions on it.

Well remembered

Yes, I had a ONE from 2002 - 2004, which was rubbish to be honest Hoping my R56 will be a LOT better.

i've had a mkV Golf in between which was a very good car.

Yep - moaned enough so my dealer was kind enough to get it sorted out by 'experts'. Waiting to see what transpires from this!

Probably the only people with a spare cassette are the factory

In the meantime my 2002 MCS went through 2 replacement cassettes in 3 years and next MCS went through one in 3 years so on the strength of that improvemnt and my love of open air motoring my R56 naturally has the sunroof option but I don't think it will last the 3 years of ownership planned!

I do give my sunroofs a lot of use open everyday it's dry and venting on the days it may be wet

My sunroof rattles quite a lot. Still to find the source of the rattle - as it's a new car for me I just tend to put my foot down and forget about it. If this novelty wears off I'll sort it out!

My R56 appears to have this rattle and the dealers says sunroofs are on back order till the middle of July.

I also have a bespoke sunroof graphic which I would lose when it gets replaced.

R56 JCW Cooper S Auto. Laser Blue, Black Roof, R105's, Sat Nav.... the list goes on.
R53 Cooper S Auto. Chilli Red, R95's. Playmini Catback Exhaust.
