Offline | Dropped mine to the dealer this morning at 7.45. They have to take out the whole dash for the one there so its an all day job. Lets hope we'll have no more rattles after today!!!!! ![]() |

Offline | Just got a call from the dealer, they reckon the car will not be ready til Thurs or more likely Friday as the whole dash has to come out and thats a big undertaking. As long as there gone it'll be worth it!!! Miss my R56 though as the one they gave me has no extras at all - no air con etc |

Offline | Lets hope they put it all back together properly? The MINI factory staff are trained(?) to put things together, Dealer technicians are "jacks-of-all-trades, .... .... ....". A lesson learned for me (with my old Fiat 20v Coupe from many years ago) was beware of the "Dealer dash out fix"! My coupe was never same again, and ended up selling it after 18 months! Mind you, that was Fiat / Arnold Clark up here in Scotland though (and original Italian build quality!!... BMW-MINI technicians are several steps-up I believe (from past BMW experience). So, no worries I hope Am interested to hear the result of your fix though? ...My 3-week old MCS has a dash rattle, but I'm hoping it's only the new storage compartment lid that needs sorting and not a dash out job. |

Offline | Dash out My car has been into Dunedin here in Edinburgh twice for various rattles. The last visit was a dash out job that took 2 full days. The rattles have not been fixed but reduced slightly. I have to say though, it was all put back together properly. As for the rattles, I'm just trying to get used to them....and avoid the Edinburgh cobbles as much as possible. Stuart (first post by the way) |

Offline | Thanks for the welcome! Well, I'd post some pictures of the wee rascal but I think I'm only allowed to after 5 posts..so the message says. Anyway, it's a 'sparkling silver' with black roof and so far I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I picked it up on 31st January. I have to confess I went through a bad period with it. The interior rattles drove me nuts. It's been into the dealer twice (for a total of 3 days) and although they're not totally fixed, I'm getting used to it. I think.. It's a hoot to drive and overall we're very happy together. Stuart (Edinburgh) |

Offline | Sparkling Silver looks great to me. Surprised about the rattles. I collected mine about the same time and it is great. Only going over REALLY rough tarmac or cobbles does it make any real noise. I got mine just a few days before you. Was it a car you ordered or one of the launch models all dealers got? I know most dealers got a Sparkling Silver car for the launch. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Rattles Hi KenL, I have to admit that the rattles aren't maybe as bad as they feel to me. You know what it's like, once you hear something, you always hear it and it starts to grate. Some of the rattles I only hear on cobbles, another is generally there all the time but I suppose minor. The rattles reduce when the car is warm. Maybe I should take someone out for a drive and ask for their opinion. The thing about rattles is that they are very difficult to find. One of mine was definitely coming from the passenger side until you sat there. Then it sounded like it was coming from the drivers side. In the end I think it maybe the sunroof. Anyway, like I say, I'm trying to get over it. The rest of the car is a blast. I usually commute on my motorbike but these days I'm using the car because I'm enjoying it so much. That's unheard of for me! I have heard the odd groan changing from 3rd to 2nd but I'm not panicking just yet. I'll see how it goes. I think it's all too easy to be overly critical about these things when you've just spent a fortune! Besides, it's already been suggested that most of the rattling is my tiny, dessicated brain hitting off thick skull. The car I spec'd myself. I saw the dealer sparkling silver and initially dismissed it. However it really grew on me and in the end couldn't resist. I'm still in shock as I've been putting off getting a new car for the last 5 years! Stuart |

Offline | Well I collected my R56 last Friday from the dealers, they had it for 3 days and all 3 rattles are completely gone (touch wood!!!). The main one on the dash, they removed the whole dash and put it back together so thats gone. The one in the door is also gone The one coming from the rear was a combination of the basket tray and the rear bushes being dry so they did a fix on these Collected it Friday evening and so far so good ![]() |
