Memory Seats (manual)

Guys, I can't get my memory seats to work on both driver and passenger side.

The manual (and brochure) states that this feature allows you to fold the seat back + move the seat base forward using the flap on the seat back (enabling easy entry for back passengers) and then the seat slides back into its original position on the rail (before the seat back comes back up). I can't get this to work. My seat base slides back beyond its original position.

Any tried this memory seat position feature? Am I doing this incorrectly?

You have to slide the seat back on the rail first (it should stop at its original position) and then put the seat up right. I did it wrong for the first day but then read the manual and sorted it.
If I understand you correctly your seat is travelling past its original position (so its too far back). If thats the case you need to speak to your dealer coz thats not right. Mine is fine (MCS R56).

thanks Gary - I'm 200% sure I'm doing this correctly, and that the seat base does not remember its original posiion. I also make sure the initial position is clicked in at the start - for its memory position.

anyone else getting this problem - odd thing is that both passenger and driver seats have this problem.

Hey, I'm glad I read this thread now.

I thought they weren't working too!

Mr Gary is right. The trick is to slide the seat back in the tilted position and then let it return to normal. Do it this way and it will remember the pre-set position. I don't think yours are bust tiger.

Thanks for clearing this one up!!

Hi SSL,

i'll give this a crack tomorrow. i'll make a conscious effort to press the seat back forward (maximise the tilt forward) while i move the whole seat forward and then, keeping it tilted, move the seat base back. i'll let you know how i get on.

cheers guys

tried my memory seat feature again - and I can confirm it does not work on either side. So this is a fault on my car. Not too keen to get this looked into ironically, as they may want to remove both seats......weighing up the pros,cons...may settle with this flaw, since hardly anyone gets in the back

sorry to hear that tiger.

I'm probably like you. In the three years I had my last car I maybe had rear seat passengers less than a dozen times! But if something's supposed to work I'd be wanting to get it sorted.

And ironically for me one of the few other cars that was on my radar when choosing the MINI was an MX5, but I just didn't want to commit myself to a two seater!

seat base position is easy to adjust so i think i will live with it. i always move it back when i get out too, to make it easier to climb out when i park in my garage (bit tight) so it bothers me less. still negged off it does not work as intended
