Offline | WE have held back from getting the offer of new clutch untill they test a new one , my dealer had a guy from tech agree repairs but no fix that a'm aware of i though was gear noise for a start but then had good chat with service manager and i think Mini are working on a re design of clutch but they won't tell us this, i think this ne wclutch is to do with saving the planet if what i'm led to beleive is correct but i think many owners have this issue but it seems to be mainly the MCS turbo that has the problem but if you check i think there is a few coopers as well, lets hope this is sorted soon as very annoying and not a characteristic of the car that is complete rubish and a dealer trying to pan off someone they think has no clue about car's something BMW should take note as not acceptable, and will be letting them now this when come to replace our e90 330D ![]() |

Offline | Hi derek Are we any further with this problem or is this still being flattly denied by BMW? I've noticed this problem more and more over th last couple of weeks, it seems now that when I gear down it not only makes the grinding type noise but also I can literally feel it through the car. Same goes for a shudder when put into first gear when moving away from a junction. Cheers Rams |

Offline | Rams these guy's think all Mini owner's are stupid well that's IMHO they are fully aware of the problem but keep coming up with the biggest rubish i have heard first drive shaft then bedding in the clutch in other word thrashing the pant's of it and then new clutch and flywheel lada comes to mind as an ex engineer it looks like i have more idea than they do, Mini Uk must be on a different planet if they think this will go away they are wrong ![]() |

Offline | There is hope on the horizon, mine went in to the dealers the other day for a few items, the noise from the gearbox, the engine rattle, the rattling dash board..oh and a gearknob which the chrome was coming off. I had a call that my wife took and they said they had fixed everything but they couldn't replicate the engine noise (happens when it's parked on a slope and not neccessarily when it's cold). Anyhoo as I was in a rush I picked up the car and didn't bother to ask what they had to do , fully expecting all faults to be there still (with the possible exclusion of the gearknob ). I have tried on four seperate occassions to get the gearbox noise and I haven't heard it, previously I could provoke it at will. Also the dash hasn't rattled since and yes, they did change the gearknob .It's got to go back at some point about the engine noise which I have got to record. I will try to remember to ask what they did to stop the gearchange noise. ![]() |

Offline | Hello, I've just joined the ranks of people with the 3rd - 2nd grinding noise under breaking. I've had the MCS since January and only done 2100 miles. Yesterday after a 2 hour journey changing down repeatedly produced the noise previously described. Interestingly I parked the car for about 10 minutes then drove again and could not get the noise to happen. I haven't contacted the dealer yet but wondered if a revised clutch design had appeared? |

Offline | Just contacted dealer who needless to say said that unless I can demonstrate the problem there is nothing they can do! I guess I have to hope it gets worse so that I can guarantee a result when I take it in. He said he was unaware of a redesigned clutch but accepted that there have been other 'gearbox problems'. We shall see.............. |
