Offline | Replacement or Rejection? For those that haven't seen my posts: I had one of the launch cars on 4 Jan 2007. Since then it has had a recall to check the cable in the steering column. I then started to smell petrol through the vents, in mid Jan together with noise when changing gear from 3 to 2. I took the car to the dealers and it has been there ever since. I have had a faulty fuel pump replaced and it now needs a new flywheel and clutch. The dealer has today offered me a replacement car. We had wrote a letter with the right to reject the car but were letting them fix the faults in a reasonable time. Without prompting they came back with this offer today. Do I accept?. I would hope the new car would not have any of these current faults but at the moment have lost confidence with the car. The dealers have been great but the car has not. If I had another car in mind I would normally run a mile from this but I havent seen another car that hits me like the Cooper S does. Help!! ![]() |

Offline | Do reject the car and get a replacement - the car you purchased was of "unsatisfactory quality" and the onus is on the dealer to provide you with a new one. Simple as that. |

| Damned | I`d definitly go for a rejection & replacement if offered so you get a March 07 Plate, but make sure the replacement wasnt made before February, & reject it straight away if theres any misalignment problems with body panels or noisy engines/ gboxs. We`re still seeing people introduce their new cars on here with the Bonnet misalignment issue, even in the last few weeks !! ![]() In da Wud |

Offline | It boils down to your personal preference really - do you like the new R56 Mini or would you prefer to look at other models? Based on the fact that you did decide to buy a Mini this year, it seems to me the only logical explanation for your hesitation at this point is caused by the fear of having these technical faults occur all over again. No car is perfect and this is the risk you will have to take, but I'm sure Mini have sorted out most of their technical glitches by now. Take up the dealer's offer of a new car - you know you want to! ![]() |

Offline | Classic, are you reading me like a book? It is the only reason that I dont know if to have another Mini, incase there are more faults too come. I have looked at the Golf GTi today but it doesnt seem to have the edge like the Mini, it has the clutch and fuel pump but not the edge ![]() |

Offline | Be brave and try again. There must be more happy owners out there than unhappy If the next one is no good then at least you can buy a completely different flavour knowing you had satisfied your thirst for a MINI Good lcukToo many freaks not enough circuses Tell a man that there are 400 billion stars and he'll believe you. Offline | I can't really offer advice as it's a very personal decision, but I'm watching with interest for sure. If you decide to have a replacement I would imagine the odds are against it being another duffer. |

![]() Toon Toon.. | Hats off to the dealer for offering you a replacement, normally you have to fight for one. I can appreciate your concern about ordering another one, it’s a tough call. I suppose it boils down to how much you want a Mini? New cars always come with niggles and they tend to iron them out over time. Global Moderator ![]() |

![]() Toon Toon.. | Me? I'm no dealer. ![]() I rejected my first Mini (Mini Cooper), so I know the dilemma you're in. I happened to have a Cooper S on order at the time, so rather than get a replacement Cooper, I decided to wait a few extra months for the S. Luckily I had an old motor I could use until it arrived. Offline | Kick it to the curb! A lemon is a lemon and new launches from any manufacturer are more prone to it. I would definately reject the current car. It all comes down to personal choice. Mini's are a great car when they work right but problems can get you fustrated real fast. Odds are the replacement will be better but highly doubt it will be perfect either. For that you might have to wait another couple of years. I am just realistic when it comes to new launches. Especially when a manufacturer makes complete Powertrain component changes. |

Offline | There was someone else in this predicament, they were gonna get the MCS replaced and BMW/Mini was giving them a 500lb credit. Get the free rental also. ![]() DyeLooper |
