Hi Guys (and Gals),

Having dipped in and out of some of the forums on mini2 I have noticed that a number of you mention the absence of an ashtray when taking up the "smokers" option......and I've just realised that I haven't got one either

! Whilst I've no intention of smoking in my R56MC I would still like to have something I paid for, and let's face it, BMW Mini's aren't exactly cheap. I have heard two differing stories regarding a resolution to this problem:

a) the missing ashtray will be fowarded on from Mini as they are aware which cars are missing the part (mine was a late Dec 06 build)

b) that you must contact your dealer and put a request in under warranty for the missing ashtray

Can anyone update me on what is the correct method of getting hold of this item

....as I want to have somewhere "special" for my mobile to hang out when I'm on a Mini adventure!!!

Mini will know you don't have the ashtray and you will get a "Quality Enhancement" letter after about a month asking you to go in a have the ashtray fitted. I also contacted the dealer before I knew about the letter so I ended up with two

Cheers for the replies guys....I'll nip down to the dealers ASAP and also see if a "Quality Enhancement" letter arrives, although as I picked the car up on Dec 28th I would have thought they would have contacted me by now!!!

You're right, I received the letter about 4 weeks after I picked up on the 21st December. Dealer query looks like the best option.

I never got the letter, but reminded Woodmans until I got one (ashtray that is!)

I'm a non-smoker, but wanted the ashtray to keep coins etc out of sight. It's easy and quick to remove again if you want the cup holder back in use.

Ours 'appeared' with no prompting during the recent iPod interface fitting visit.
