| MINI2 Regular | Strange CD Fault ? Any ideas anyone? I took delivery of my new R56 in late January and in recent days it seems to have developed the following intermittant fault. When unlocking the car and getting in, I am greeted with the sound of the CD unit as if it is trying to eject a CD or accept a CD that isn't far enough in the slot for the mechanism to grab it. At the time it is making the noise, i have just opened the door so there is no key in the ignition nothing switched on. It appears to do this regardless of whether when I last switched the car off I turned the radio/cd off or just left it on for it to go off when I take the key out. There is no CD in the car having ejected it prior to switching the unit off and getting out of the car and yes, I am giving the unit full time to eject the CD before switching off. Just curious if anyone else has come across this before I speak to my dealer. This is the first real issue I have had (except for a slight occasional rattle from the offside dash area which both my previous MINI's have had and no-one ever managed to fix and the other niggle of a very noisy return spring on the clutch pedal somewhere up behind the dash) Apart from this I am loving the car, had it for 4 weeks and covered 1800 miles ![]() |

Offline | i get the cd eject/insert noise too when opening the door, but it does it just once and settles down. From memory, it's done that since day 1. I think this is normal, as if the cd is preparing itself/going on standby to play |

Offline | I have noticed the cd noise too. Think it's okay to be honest. Quote:-the other niggle of a very noisy return spring on the clutch pedal somewhere up behind the dash). I also had the above in my R56. Dropped it to dealer, said it needed a rubber grommet that was part of a 'fix' for this problem,They ordered it and after fitting, Car is perfect. | MINI2 Regular | Thanks for the feedback folks. I'm glad it is not just me with the CD noise. To be honest is doesn't bother me that much, I just wondered if it was something others were experiencing or a peculiarity I might need to have looked at. I may mention it when I phone the dealer at some point. Fergal, thanks for the info about the clutch spring noise, i'll get it booked in for this 'fix' Cheers all |
