Offline | Rattle from rear over bumps at slow speed Has anyone noticed a buzzing type noise when going over bumps / speed bumps at a low speed. I have had a quick look under the car and think it is the wheel arch trim - both sides as it is just a flymsy piece of material that is fixed only at the top. Anyone else suffering with this? |

Offline | Do you mean the trim you can see from the side of the car, or the trim under the wheel well that you cannot see without poking about/sticking your head under? If it's the latter, it shouldn't be hanging, it should be fitted tight/tucked/clipped in behind the hard plastic wheel arch trim. It may have been knocked/worked itself free. Or may be poorly fitting. If it's the former, then it may have broken free. Is that at the front or rear of the car too? |

Offline | I have attached a photo, unfortunatley it is not too clear......... Taken from the rear of the car looking up towards the wheel arch. This trim is not very secure and I can get my hand between it and the metal - if I flick it it makes a noise just like a spring board at a swimming pool. Should this be solid? I also notice that the alloy type (suspension) struts are very visable on the car when looking at it from say 20ft - almost look out of place? |

Offline | think you are right, I have had this rule twang twice - low speed, over a ramp/hump....apart from the nusance factor, it seems fairly innocuous then, phew...still want to cure it though |

Offline | there was an early post about BMW stating this noise was due to over-sensitive traction control software - i did not buy this and believe this loose trim is the culprit..anyone else remember that earlier aforementioned post? |

Offline | this (the large black part) looks like the piece of rear bumper trim that you can touch when scrubbing the alloys with a brush - we saying that this is flapping around or getting caught up with some of the suspension parts if the car is positioned in a certain way i.e. over a hump/ramp? |
