Try doing the same again without the rear window heater, as they're not related.

This is what someone else posted

"The heated mirrors on R56 initiate at 15 degrees C on a low power setting. When the temperature drops below 3 degrees they will then work on full power."

Maybe its true

Had the same problem this week with my 07 r56,phoned dealer and confirmed that you need to press the rear windscreen button for mirrors to heat up,im sure my old cooper s used to work automatically though?

This sounds most reasonable: "The heated mirrors on R56 initiate at 15 degrees C on a low power setting. When the temperature drops below 3 degrees they will then work on full power.". As I've seen nothing to suggest they tie in with the heated rear screen.

Well I have been, and they advised me after checking wires / fuses that they do not work until the temp drops below 3 Degrees......... So my next question is where is the ambient temp sensor so i can pop some ice around it and say if they work !!!

As luck would have it my speaker was playing up on the way over so they fixed that too!! Not so much a wasted journey then....

Mini Adventure I guess???
