Online | Heated Mirrors Hi, I got a MCS R56 and opted for the heated wing mirrors, at first they worked but for some strange reason they have stopped working all of a sudden. The only thing I have done is fold the mirrors back one day in a car park and I think it's since then they aint worked...... could it have pulled a wire off or something ? Any ideas? And both dont work its not just one.. ![]() |

Offline | are you saying the heating element is not working anymore or all the mirror features- the mirror adjustment, folding and heating? as the heating element only kicks in when ambient temp falls below a certain temp....if you have frost on your car at night, you can see it working (the heating) and clear the frost quickly. please clarify so we can comment further |

Online | Hi. Just the heating part, they still adjust etc fine. When i picked it up my dealer told me they worked all the time, but if its just at low temps that would probably explain it.... (is it below 4degrees or something around that mark ?) I had alot of 'dew' on the mirrors the other morning when i set off to work and expected them to be nice and clear within 10 - 15 mins.... hence thinking oh they aint working! |

Offline | Excellent news. The dealer is wrong on this. The heating element only works from around 3.c and below, and the system is very efficient. My car was iced up 3 weeks ago (remember all that snow!) and both mirrors were frosted. Within 1 min from starting the car, it had thawed. I reckon on the morning with the dew, the temp was still above 3'c so the heating was not triggered. It's easy to test. Keep an eye on the weather, and during a cold night spray your mirrors with some water. Return to your car later and hopefully the water may have frozen- then start your car and watch it thaw - check your OBC to see what the ambient temp is - 3 or below and the heaters should activate. On the other hand, during the same cold night, just feel the mirror with the back of your fingers and you should detect the warmth. |

Offline | So it's different to the R53 as they have the mirrors heating all the time, but only at a low level so you don't notice it Laser Blue / Black MCS - Arived March 07 |

Offline | everything on the R56 has been optimisd to maximise fuel efficiency...so electrics only kick in when they have to..it all goes to helping it achieve impressive economy. of interest, the new 1 series BMW has start stop tech - the engine cuts out when you stop in neutral and wakes up when you depress the clutch - all part of the effort to reduce emissions and max out the fuel efficiency. It even uses braking energy to recharge the battery, so the unit is fully charged will less petrol consumption. |

Offline | check the manual bud. I am 200% sure it states the heating only comes on below a certain temperature. Put my house on it!! It's def in the manual - refer to it and show the dealer chap/chapess - give them a red face..they should know their product better than that! |

Offline | So when ordering for the Heating side mirrors there isn't a button to turn it on or off? I wanted this feature to get rid of dew and rain since I get a lot of rain. So then I can't use this feature then? |

Offline | According to this post they work in two stages. But the author never replied to my question asking how she knew so I am not sure whether it is true. But it seems credible http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-e...ml#post2816812 |

Offline | Just went out to check there. 8 degrees showing on OBC,switched on heated rear window switch and within a minute or less I had heated mirrors! and they got quite hot to touch. Anyone know the exact degree that they come on themselves? ![]() It's a MINI Clubman adventure! |
