Offline | Boot Alarm Wierdness Hello We often find that opening the boot causes the car's alarm to trigger... the dealer's baffled and so we're wondering if anyone else has the problem. Firstly, we have comfort access. So we should, in theory, be able to walk up to the locked boot, press the release, and have it open. It does open, but quite often the alarm is triggered at the same time. Secondly, we find the problem also occurs if we do things the non-comfort-access way - i.e. we hold down the boot release on the keyfob for a second or so. Yes - the boot pops up as it should, but there's a good chance the car's alarm will be triggered too. Both items are intermittent but generally happen, say, 2 in 5 times. The manual mentions something about a panic alarm - but I doubt we're experiencing this as it'd be madness to have it triggered by comfort access and the boot opens quite happily in either case. Also, I think the panic alarm is triggered by a different button - and there is some confusion as to whether it works at all in the UK (see some entries under http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-m...ght=boot+alarm) Anyway.. the long and the short is that the boot opens quite happily, but with the alarm also blaring away in many cases. And it's annnnnnoying! Anyone else experienced this? Thanks! |

Offline | Strange one! I don't have comfort access. On mine you HAVE to unlock the car before you can pop open the boot with that button. I imagine unlocking the car also switches off the alarm. I don't the the panic alarm is not available on UK cars. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Hmm.. thanks for the reply. It is a bit odd. Maybe comfort access is confusing the alarm system or boot opening, but it's not particularly satisfactory. Dealer is going to report it via "puma" so we'll see what happens. Strange that you have to unlock the car before unlocking the boot. Good in some ways I suppose, but it's nice to be able to just open the boot (without unlocking the rest of the car) and then have the boot re-lock automatically when you close it down again. |

Offline | I am glad this is not possible. I once had to drive 150 miles to collect my mates spare key after he locked his key in the boot of his Audi A6 with this feature ![]() Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Yeah that's the one. It does only happen intermitently, but too often for my liking. No news on the Puma report yet, but the car is due to go back in in a fortnight for this and some other stuff, so will hopefully have more answers by then... |
