Offline | Ian S 11-5-2007 Day one of new R56 MC S ownership - Red warning light comes on for 30 seconds on M11 on way home from dealership. Arrive home - unable to secure car as no central locking and drivers door will not shut due to window in fully raised position - red warning light on - no lights. Call out MINI assist - unable to diagnose fault as does not have latest software. However shows me how to close door by pushing glass at top, lock car manually. Check car before retiring - lights on, sun roof open but no key in the ignition! Get roof shut, disconnect battery. 12-5-2007 Ring dealership, re-connect battery - everything working. Car booked in for 23-5-2007. 16-5-2007 to date - Warning light comes on intermittently, lights etc fail for 30 seconds or so then clears itself - check control shows no problems - however windows do not always raise - source of problem? unable to reach Dealer before fault rectifys itself - frustating. Other faults: Buzz/rattle from ignition switch surround, leak through trim of drivers door, top end of engine seems noisy, throttle jerky - not impressed, had numerous BMW's since 1996 always reliable, also run 5 series - no problems. ![]() Last edited by Paul : May 19th, 2007 at 10:27 AM. | VW GT Sport 170 TDI | Grounds for rejection. Put it in writing that you are formally rejecting the car unless they fix these serious defects with 7 days. Then take the car to them and leave it there. If you are on finance, then advise the finance company of what you are doing. |

Offline | This is completely unacceptable. Definitely look into rejecting it... I don't know what's going on with the R56. I know several people with no a single issue, whilst others are badly faulty from day one. ![]() |

Offline | Its a shame that these issues are occuring. Unfortunatley its becoming the norm to have at least one problem on the R56 MCS. I say MCS, as the R56 MC doesnt seem to have many people commenting on faults. Seems like the MC R56 is a different car!! Anyway i think your issues with result in a rejection , dont let it spoil the MINI name. Maybe go look at a R53 S (Not the latest shape) as they were great cars too.![]() Sig Coming Soon.. |

Offline | Electrical fault Electrical problem diagnosed as faulty control unit in footwell. However part on back order so now driving Chevrolet Lacetti at MINI's expense! Also replacing ignition switch to cure rattle from dashboard - hope to have car back end of next week. |

Offline | i have the same problem with my ignition slot/button - hi speed vibration that gives a buzz, however it is intermittent. Chris.F had the same and his dealer adjusted it -- some days later, his car's electricals went beserk as his post explains. I think the dealer must have made a tweak that made the electrical contact faulty (Chris mentioned in his post the button was far stiffer). Best make sure the dealer know's what they are doing otherwise there is a risk of bigger problems. |
