Offline | Cooper Recall - Fan Just had a letter to recall my (Dec 06 built) Cooper for a Fan issue. In tomorrow for an hours work? Heard that before. Thats the i-pod link....alternator bolt....now this. You would think spending nearly £18,000 on the car in January would at least mean they got your name right on the letter by now. |

Offline | I had this done today, was in and out of the dealer in half an hour - all they are doing is changing a fuse. Don't get hung up on the name mistake, a simple case of human error ![]() Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | my brother in law's cooper had same recall to change fan fuse - something to do with the air con fan stopping when the car came to a halt, so it would not blow cool air into the cabin when the car is stationary. The change rectified the problem. |

Offline | It needs to continue to circulate coolant around the turbo so that the scoop doesn't melt. I'm trying to figure out the temperatures that are nominal... Safety fast, Bill |

![]() Give me more Fridays!! | Just as a warning to anyone who's had the fan recall on their Cooper, I would advise that you check that your new fuse has been upgraded from a 30 amp fuse to a 40 amp fuse. My boyfriend (matrog) and I had gone away to the Isle of Wight when a warning light and noise came on the dash board saying the engine was overheating. The car was making a really awful noise when driving around with the air con on. We also noticed that the engine fan wasn't coming on at all. Called out MINI assistance to have a look at it and the guy that came out told us that the fan fuse had blown and that it was 30 amp fuse that he needed to replace. The guy that came out took the old one out but never replaced it with a new one, which we assumed would be the same fuse as the one that had blown. Once he had left, we started to drive but soon realised the problem was still there. Took the MINI to BMW Snows in Newport, and found that the MINI assistance guy hadn't replaced the fuse. Spoke to the guys at BMW and they had said that when the car had gone in for a recall, the fuse taken out should have been the 30 amp fuse and be replaced with a 40 amp fuse - which they hadn't done!!! They fitted a 40 amp fuse while we were there and the car works fine now. Just got back from the Isle of Wight and checked my car as mine was recalled and supposedly done at the same time, and found that I have the same problem, mine still has the 30 amp fuse in which it shouldn't!!!!! We're both very annoyed that the work we thought had been done actually hasn't!! I'll be taking my MINI to my local dealer this weekend to get a new fuse. I hope the rest of you aren't as unlucky as we've been ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I bought my car as an ex-demo so i'm worried I might not be 'in the loop' for finding out about recalls etc, if I phone the dealer will they be able to tell if mine needs this fuse changing? |

Offline | You should be in the loop, but best to check with a dealer anyway. I got a recall notice for the alternator bolt torque setting, when I went in to the dealer, their system was showing that the car also needed the fuse replaced. Bizarrely, they did not have a fuse in stock and I had to go back in! Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | I checked my fuse this morning and it seems to be the 40A fuse, but I notice that although there is a place/space for spare fuses in the fuse box, there are no spares there. I wonder if someone has removed them ? has anyone else got spares where I presume there should be ? |

Offline | Cooling fan fuse My Cooper S May 2007 build (week 20) has a 40 amp fuse for the cooling fan. where the lid of the fuse box indicates a 30 amp fuse should be, so it looks like that is the fix out of the factory. You think someone might have crossed out the 30 amp label and written 40 amp on the lid!! |
