My light cluster/sunroof controls have a weird clicking noise but its not annoying, and the rear speaker seems to make a vibration noise on rough roads.

HOWEVER I turn on the radio and its okay as its a hell of a lot quieter than my old (07 reg!) 116i!!
That had all the interior plastics taken off searching for rattles!

But my sisters 116i is silent!!

I think its luck of the draw! After all, what can you expect when you click a load of plastic together!!

:-)

It turned out my rear speakers had blown (not from my music I never have it loud!!) so that was the rattling!

It's being sorted soon. Other than that I (touch wood) have a mostly silent mini now...

Same problem: rattles from the dash (central, approximately coming from the air vent). I took it to the BMW dealer, nothing resolved. I took it back to BMW asking them to be "more careful" and, voila, they solved the problem (apparently). They dismantled the dash, put some rubber pieces between parts and then remounted it ... now it is ok (although some other part of my S chili started to rattle ....). Ah, I've found a screw in the ashes tray as a present (they forgot it? Was the screw to rattle .. I do not know). They say that if I notice that the problem is back, they need to replace the entire dash (and they have done it for other >2006 Mini in the past).

I thought the R56 would be better. My R53 got rattles at the front of the dash. Before I installed the front strut brace it was worst. Now much better. But still rattle though especially at night it gets louder when it's colder.

I guess I just have to live with it. Just switch on some loud music and pump up the volume. At least you dont to hear the rattling sound..

United-Kingdom Dash Squeak Cure

my R53 with 26K has started the dash rattle and has also developed a creaking steering column. Since I bought the car from a dealer second had 6 weeks ago it has got worse.

The dealer was sympathetic and got his detail er to lube the dash and steering column with silicone dash cleaner. It cured it!!

It was called 'Dash Dandy'

Give it a go!
