Offline | Accelerating after throttle lift-off. Yesterday, while doing a run. I noticed this. WOT off the lights, 1st gear, 2nd, 3rd, then in 4th, i lifted off the gas, for a split second, the car still kept on accelerating. An eye opener no doubt. What is the issue here??????? This is the 1st time it has happened. |

Offline | I've had this problem previously on a 2004 R50 Cooper. It would only happen under certain conditions - mostly felt in 2nd gear, when accelerating and lifting off at about 2000rpm the throttle would 'jam' open for just under a second longer. In 60,000 miles unfortunately no dealer was able to fix this quirk as they were unable to recreate the problem themselves (it would happen about once every month). For me it wasn't a massive problem, however if you have the same problem watch yourself in traffic. On a few occasions when in slow traffic in 2nd, the car would continue to accelerate towards the car in front, and I would have to engage the clutch very quickly to prevent the car building up speed. ![]() |

Offline | Mine does this sometimes, only at higher speeds in 5th and 6th, I had convinced myself that it was just the way I was driving or foot position. It has never felt dangerous but I will mention it next time I am at the Dealer Stu ![]() ![]() ![]() |
