Opening Tailgate via Remote

I tried opening the tailgate of my R56 MCS when the car was locked via the key fob using the button, but it did not unlock.

According to the Handbook it should have unlocked, am I doing something wrong or is there a fault

It varies by market. In the UK you have to press the unlock button first and then hold the tailgate button down for a few seconds

Thanks Martin F but your suggestion does not work. On the remote control there is a button with a symbol of the tailgate. On the tailgate by the number plate light there is a rubberised pad which you to press upwards to manually open the tailgate.

If I unlock the car via the remote and press the rubberised pad upward , the tailgate opens. But if I leave the car locked and then press the tailhate button on the remote and then press the pad nothing happens

Possibly my MCS is a Chinese version

Martin is correct, that's how my car works. You must unlock the car before the tailgate button will pop the tailgate open.

Don't forget you have to hold down the Tailgate Unlock button on the fob, its not a one press jobbie like you would do when unlocking the doors.

To summarise...Unlock the car and hold down the Tailgate unlock button, you'll hear the boot pop open and you can lift if open without using the rubbery button. If you don't get to it within a certain time though, it will lock again, although not fully.

Hope this helps!
