Scotland Noise at 1100 revs HELP

Hello I wonder if any of you technical minded men can help me out with some advice. I traded my 06 JCW in for a 56 plate Cooper S last week and seem to have a problem. Between 1000 and 1500 revs I an getting a vibration. The noise seems to come from the engine or the front part of the exhaust system. Once past the range of revs no problem. I have took the car back to the mini garage twice now and they cant find the problem. The now have been in contact with the factory and want the car back to the dealer for more tests. Any advice would be most welcome to what the problem could be and what I should do if they cant fix it. What is the timescale for such things. The car only has 3600 miles on the clock. Please help me I am really sick about this and I loved my old car.

I see you are in Scotland FeFe.

Where did you get the car? What is the spec?

Got the car at Mini Carlisle. The spec is Cooper S with most of the extras you can get, JCW body kit, sat nav, TV, lounge leather, DSC, Climate control, C pack, Vision pack, and loads more. The car also has only 3600 miles on the clock and was very well priced.

FeFe - this is fixed (under warranty) by fitting a modified alternator. Tell the dealer there is a PUMA report related to this, the problem is described similar to how you have done, so they should have no problem linking it.

Hi... I suspect your problem is the alternator. I had the exact same problem on my Dec 06 build. It sounds like the engine is labouring or the exauhst manifold is vibrating. You almost feel as if you are not giving it enough revs when pulling away. Mini never acknowledged the fault however when I had a revised alternator fitted it resolved the problem. It was like a completly different car. I would be very suprised if that did not fix your problem.
