Hi folks. I wondered if you might be able to put my mind at rest here? After a trip to the dealers for the latest "cold engine noise" fix my car seemed to have inherited a reasonably loud knocking noise when you move the steering wheel from side to side when staitionary i.e. when maneuvering in a tight space. I say it seems to have inherited the noise because I really can't recall hearing or, indeed, feeling this prior to it's last visit.

The dealer has had a look at the car today and compared it to two others, both of which they say make the same noise.

If anyone happens to be out and about today and could let me know if this is normal or whether I'm becoming ever more paranoid about this car, I would feel much better either way!

I had exactly the same happen to me after i had a new timing system replaced to cure the cold start noise.

They may have damaged it during the work. Not sure if they drop the engine down to get a the new timing stuff in.

Took it back to the dealer and they changed the steering rack and did a KDS.

Get its sorted under warranty. Steering should be silky smooth with NO knocking.

thanks brgc00perboy. That's both really interesting and slightly alarming on the basis that I'm going to pick the car up and i've been told that it is perfectly normal....

Without going off subject too much (as I know there is a well documented thread on here already) but has your cold noise been cured?
