Hi
The key fob of my new, leased Mini One has stopped working. Can anyone help please? Only had the car 2 months - 57 plate.

Wrong thread!

You need to have this moved to 2nd Generation faults and fixes. My advice would be to go to a dealer and get it sorted under warranty though!

Call your dealership and schedule a time with your Service Advisor (SA), ask if you can meet with the shop foreman too. I had the same problem with my USA R56 MCS in November. The place where you insert the key gets damaged if you insert the key upside down (my garage messed that one up, I think), but either way my SA said its a poorly designed part.

Tell your SA you think the CAS (I forget what it stands for, but that's the part), is faulty and you need it replaced. Bad part is the CAS includes the key hole and a computer up inside the dash that controls the start up sequence, key memory, etc. Its VIN specific and will take them up to a week to order it from Parts. This is the only way to get the problem fixed.

If anything, make sure they don't try to pin the problem on you. My car wouldnt start because of a faulty CAS, and I had to get towed from the Dragon. They convered it under warranty.
