Hi All,

I'd be grateful for your suggestions on what the cause of the noise may be.

The car has always made this noise and only does it when the car is just started/slowing down/stationery. When it's driven around it dosen't make the noise.

It's a Mini Cooper, petrol, 1.6.

Also, can anyone tell me where the engine numbers are on the car? I can find the chassis but no engine!

How old is your car? If it's the old model (56 reg and earlier) then it' could be the noisy power steering that affects all previous version Minis. Not a fault, just an irritating design.
