'S' air scoop flies off on the M42 !

Driving into work today the bonnet air scoop on my 1 month old 'S' flew off whilst I was going up the M42... I didn't actually realise that's what it was at the time as it didn't hit anything, was silent with no warning and happened so quickly I thought it was a bit of paper flying up over the windscreen. I only spotted it when I got to work.

Has anyone else had something like this happen?

I've contacted the dealer and they are supposed to be getting back to me to book it in for a replacement.

only the high gloss black exterior A pillar trim flew off mine whilst I was on the motorway. Never really heard of a scoop flying off though!

Hope it gets fitted ASAP so its not nose-less for too long!

I'm pretty sure I know the cause... I had viper stripes fitted (by the dealer) when I ordered the car and they obviously had to remove the bonnet scoop to fit the stripes. I reckon they just failed to fit the scoop properly once the stripes had been done.... very poor

Think your right in thinking that. Very strange but as long as you get a new one suppose its just one of those things. Strange thing is you never hear things like this with anythig but a MINI.

Crazy! I always thought there was a large portion of it under the bonnet, but looking at them on ebay etc, shows it doesn't. It's obvious that it was screwed back on properly - doubt the bolts sheared off...?

I'd have the dealer about that - say it hit the windscreen and made you swerve etc - try to get some freebies out of it
