From what I've read, it looks like each flick of the switch moves it on to the next colour. Automatically cycling colours would do your head in

It's one of the features that makes me really want the car. After all, the interior's where you see the car from 90% of the time, so being able to alter the feel of it at the flick of a switch helps prevent you from tiring of the interior.

totally agree - i've always been very particular on interiors for this very reason
