Interior space / legroom

I read the following on the Wilkpedia entry about the R56.

The so-called 'Mk II MINI' is three inches longer than the 'Mk I' in order to provide some much-needed rear legroom.

If it really has 3 more inches that have been given to legroom that would be a real plus for tall parents with two children like ourselves As we all know, three inches can make a big difference

So, my question is, has all the three inches gone into cabin space or has it been lost along the way?

Clubman less....

As far as I was aware the extra length is for crash protection and pedestrian safety. The chances are though that the redesign may have released a little extra legroom in the rear but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

If you want more legroom, wait for the Clubman.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Good point, and I am following it. However I'm quite concerned about the cost. The MINI is already overpriced in Aus. To give you and idea, a chilli S is 5% more expensive than a 5 door Golf GTI. I can't imagine what they would try and charge for it.

It's grown, but not to increase interior space. The boot space is larger, and of course the overhang at the front is a little larger too.

Interior space has been improved, but that's mostly due to shuffling of the interior parts, not because of the exterior growth.
